New Orleans, LA – Event organizers announced today that the official website for NOLATech Week is now live at www.nolatechweek.org. The site includes registration information and a live schedule for the first annual NOLATech Week, which will take place the week of October 7-12, 2013 around New Orleans. All those who would like to attend NOLATech Week or create a Featured Event to be added to the NOLATech Week calendar should visit www.nolatechweek.org for details and contact information.
The week’s events will showcase how the community is utilizing the city’s economic growth to innovate across a myriad of disciplines. NOLATech Week will bring together businesses and individuals at the forefront of innovation, technology, and culture.
The schedule currently includes all of the official Marquee Events (larger events that will serve as official registration and check-in points during the week) and a growing list of Featured Events created by local organizations. Featured Events focused on technology and healthcare, science, government, entertainment and nonprofits are currently being planned, and new Featured Events are being added to the calendar daily. These events will include panels, discussions, speakers, meetups, demonstrations, social gatherings and more.
Any New Orleans nonprofit, business or organization may create a Featured Event for NOLATech Week, provided the event is free to attend and aligned with NOLATech Week’s purpose: to highlight local innovation that benefits the community. Featured Events are being added to the schedule as they are submitted. Community groups and organizations are encouraged to add their events to the calendar by submitting the details at http://www.nolatechweek.org.
“Our hope is to help broaden the conversation about the role of technology in our city’s future,” said event organizer Jason Seidman. “We invite everyone who is interested to register and attend any of these free, public events. We also continue to welcome folks to create their own events to be added to the NOLATech Week calendar.”
Event partners include New Orleans CityBusiness, Greater New Orleans Inc., the Idea Village, BioDistrict New Orleans, Launch Pad, 4.0 Schools, Propeller, New Orleans Video Access Center and the City of New Orleans.
Allen Square, Jr., Chief Information Officer for the City of New Orleans, said, “We’re excited to share how technology is driving innovation and improving the delivery of City services to our citizens. NOLATech Week will also be a great opportunity for New Orleans nonprofits, community groups and civic and technology leaders to highlight the innovative work they are doing to benefit our community.”
“We’re excited about being a Marquee Partner of the inaugural NOLATech Week that will provide us with the opportunity to showcase innovation from the emerging bio-industry,” said BioDistrict President and CEO James P. McNamara. “We are proud to join in this collaboration that shares the goals of attracting new investment to enhance the commercialization of university innovation from LSU, Tulane and Xavier, while creating new high wage quality jobs for New Orleanians.”
“NOLA Tech Week is an exciting opportunity to connect and expand the digital media communities in Louisiana,” says NOVAC Executive Director Darcy McKinnon. “Bringing together the booming technology and film production communities in our region is an obvious fit that will drive collaboration and expansion in our creative economy.”
Travis Andrews, Communications Manager at Propeller said, “Propeller is excited to be a part of the first NOLATech Week. It’s a great opportunity to bring innovative thinkers and creatives together to celebrate the growth of the technology industry in Louisiana!”
All who wish to attend any of the Marquee Events should register today at http://www.nolatechweek.org. Everyone who registers will receive a “NOLATech Week Attendee” badge; those who choose to donate $5 when they register will also receive some NOLATech Week gear at their first Marquee event check-in. All $5 donations collected through the registration process will go to a New Orleans charity chosen by attendees at the closing night party on October 12th.
